In green grazing fields, a dog lives happily with his master, a rather unusual old shepherd. He doesn’t only shear the wool of his sheep, he also changes it into clouds to create rain, thus perpetuating the cycle of life.
But suppose the shepherd was not eternal, what would become of the valley ? The young dog will have to prove inventive and persevering in order to avoid a catastrophe…
A shepherd and his dog ensure the life cycle of their mountain grasslands by changing the wool of their sheep into rain giving clouds. This poetical tale describes a break in the cycle and then its revival.
The music first expresses the everyday joy and vitality of the cycle. Then it accentuates the apocalyptic atmosphere that develops when the cycle stops and finally comes back to the happy gracefulness of the beginning when the cycle starts working again.
The challenge here for the music was to maintain a serene and optimistic climate in spite of the ongoing drama.
